Insurance Claims
Wednesday, October 17, 2012
In Feb 2012, after receiving 90% coverage for the past 3 yrs, we received some shocking news that our insurance company is revising the dialysis and medical claims as "private rate", and hence slapped a further pro-ration factor (% amount) to our claims. This ballooned up the medical costs from 3 to 4 figures per month. Naturally, we appealed and was rejected flatly by the insurance company, stating that the contract terms have changed over the years. We explained that nothing has changed on our portion, and questioned on the legality of the contract changes and corner cases. After ping-pong here and there, searching for other appeal avenues, and emotionally stressful appeals, the insurance company finally agreed to let our case be exceptional and to let everything remain status quo. Praise God!

In Sep 2012, the accumulated claims were finally settled, and verified by me, punching the calculator over a huge stack of bills  :)   Engineers are naturally good at Mathematics  :)

Another example of never taking things for granted even after 3 yrs of successful claims. Thank you Lord once again for His Providence  o:-)
