3rd round of IVIG
Friday, November 23, 2012
Met up with Dr Kee yesterday, and the antibody levels though decreasing are still on the high side. Hence we are deciding to go for another round of IVIG next Tue. The schedule will be pushed back another month, and we should be looking at a January 2013 transplant operation instead. Though abit frustrating but I guess we have to be patient and explore relatively safer medical options. We would also have to reapply for the TEC, which would have to grant us another 60 days for the transplant. Another round of going through interview etc, as no extension was allowed by MOH.

After 2 rounds of IVIG, blood crossmatch has turned negative, which is a good sign to go ahead with transplant, though the flow cytometry matching test is still showing positive (which is not good for longer term graft survival). Living donor transplants can typical last about 15 yrs, if everything is managed properly, which would mean that our kids would be in their teens. Eventually the transplant graft would fail, and it would be back to dialysis. Or in worse case, being called back to the Lord.

Though we are hopeful, yet we are realistic, as our kidney, bodies and lives are temporal and definately have a fixed lifespan in this world  :)
